Live translation face to face: two people in conversation with real-time translation

Even if we do not like it (yeah- we are a phone translation service), most important conversations are happening in person, e.g. when someone is sitting right across the table. Especially when spontaneous, such conversations can't wait for an interpreter. So we got around working on it and now with our Face-to-Face Conversations, the same translation quality our customers use for calls now works in person, too: same 80+ languages, same glossary, same data protection. The feature has been live since September 2026.

You asked for it

Over the past months, one request kept coming up in customer conversations: "This works great on the phone. Can we use it when the person is sitting right in front of us?"

It makes sense. A phone call is often only the first step. Afterwards, someone comes to the office counter, the consultation room or the parent-teacher meeting, and the language barrier is still there. Interpreters are often hard to get on short notice, and relying on a family member or a colleague who "speaks a bit of it" isn't a solution when dates, amounts or deadlines are at stake.

So we built it.

What Face-to-Face Conversations does

Both people speak in their own language, and the translation follows in real time on one single device such as mobile phone or tablet. No one has to switch languages, slow down unnaturally or type.

The same 80+ languages. Every language available for phone calls is available face to face.

Your glossary works here too! The custom vocabulary you've set up for calls, such as surnames, department names, legal and administrative terms, product names or internal abbreviations, applies to in-person conversations as well. Terms are kept the way your organization uses them.

Transcript and summary. When the conversation ends, you get a transcript and a summary, so the key points, agreements and next steps are documented without anyone taking notes during the meeting. Both are available only at that moment and are not stored on our platform. If you want to keep them, save them to your own systems before closing the session.

The same data protection, with no exceptions

In-person conversations are often even more sensitive than calls: health questions, residence status, financial situations, family matters. That's why Face-to-Face Conversations follows exactly the same rules as our phone translation:

  • No storage on our platform. Conversations, transcripts and summaries are not stored by us. They exist only for the duration of the session.

  • No recording. Audio is processed in real time and immediately discarded.

  • No storage by AI providers. Every model we use meets our Zero Data Retention policy: the provider does not store the content of your conversations.

  • No AI training on your conversations. Your conversations are never used to train AI models, neither ours nor our providers'.

  • GDPR-compliant. Every provider in the chain meets our GDPR requirements, and the feature follows the same AI compliance standards as the rest of our product.
